How to Nail Down Your Morning Routine

A morning routine works wonders for your body and mind. It also sets the tone for your day-to-day. All you need is 30 minutes to an hour each morning to create a healthy habit.

  1. Get your body moving
  • Quick workout. Start the day right with an energizing morning workout or light exercise like walking/jogging.
  • Stretch. If you don’t have time for a workout, stretching improves circulation and boosts energy.
  • Eat a healthy brekkie. Eat a healthy breakfast and drink lots of water to hydrate the body.

Time needed: 30 minutes

  1. Train your brain

A few minutes of brain exercise each morning goes a long way to improve focus and mental alertness. Try these brain benders:

  • Sudoku
  • Crossword puzzles
  • Read

Time needed: Up to 15 minutes

  1. Keep grounded
  • Meditate. A 5-minute meditation session can keep you grounded to face whatever the day brings.
  • Keep a journal. Jot down your thoughts each morning to plan activities and ease anxiety.
  • Draw, paint or make crafts. Get the creative juices flowing and banish anxiety by drawing, painting or making your fave crafts.
  • Spend time with your pets. Spend some quality time with your fur babies in the morning. Take them for a walk around the block and count it as a workout!

  1. Don’t forget your mental health
  • Stay social. It’s important to stay connected with friends and family. Keeping connected with loved ones can add years to your life!
  • Thank someone. Expressing gratitude for the little things in life makes your loved ones feel appreciated. And it’s good for your own well-being.
  • Listen to music. Feeling edgy? Try listening to some soothing tunes while you’re fixing breakfast or getting dressed. Music is an amazing mood booster and can even reduce depression.

  1. Factor in morning activities

Make sure you have enough time for your routine by factoring in usual morning activities like showering, grooming, getting dressed, meal prep and chores.
